Papa Joe Montalto returned my Graham radiator the other day, and I showed him my level of completion of the dash panel. He promised to return this coming week to complete it.

I bought another bezel to use for mockup, and made an. 033” aluminum panel. Now comes the cutting part, opening it up for the AC, radio, and instrument cluster.

Once done, I can call the job complete, and either enjoy it or push hard to sell it.

I called Joe, Jr. and told him to forget about Sr. doing the dash work. Of course, Sr. showed up two days later. He took the piece, and now has vanished for two weeks. Sr. and his wife have their own worries, but this doesn't get it done for me.

Roy tightened the right front engine mount an 1/8 th of a turn, but it made no difference in the rattling underneath.

We have foamed around the gas tank shields, added fasteners, cut off unused muffler hangers, and still big rattles.

I will tape down the rear shell door and see if that makes any difference, but the sound seems heavy and suspension related.

Papa Joe has not yet done the dash, despite FOUR months of waiting. Everyone has their life issues, and I am completely understanding of Pop's own life needs. But this is STUPID. I saw Joe Jr. last week, and told him to just get it back from Pop and I'd have someone make it.

“No, no, we'll do it, really!”

Joe proceeded to tell me how they had worked on it, etc. As it is, I have Jay Dykes still busy on the Condor blower and other fabrication, so I need not pull Jay off that work to do this. But guaranteed Jay would have it done in a couple of days.

The truck is otherwise gorgeous, but mainly just sits in the front yard, waiting for the dash to be completed.

I have it for sale, although I am not keen to lose it, but I have TOO many cars, too little room, NO money, and so forth.

I have not addressed any of the possible shell rattling (I'm suspecting the rear door), and therefore Roy and I have not figured out the exhaust-like rattle. Not the end of the world, but the truck is otherwise so pretty, such a nice performer, and so close to as perfect as possible that this is just maddening, along with the dash incompleteness.

I've said it before: TOO many projects.
