11/30/07
Over two years ago I noted there was little to talk about regarding the monster Regal.
It has been sitting in storage for 6 months, and I retrieved it about two weeks ago to take to Bob’s, and found it slowly overheating. It actually stabilized around 215 degrees, but it should be running around 160-180.
I took the car to Jeff Price at JPA and he has had the car over a week, and done nothing essentially, except to find he could not locate a new $20 thermostat housing. The housing is steel, the manifold is aluminum, and the electrolysis which welds them is nearly inevitable. I will research some grounding systems now, of course.
The stat is probably stuck, and the housing is REALLY stuck. I located one at NOS4GN with Glen Boiko. I have a message into Jeff by means of two emails as to whether he found one or if we should order Boiko’s part.

The car is spectacular, but it must go, as should the 64 Dodge Hemi, and the trucks, and probably the Graham. But without the Regal running, there is little chance of selling it.

I did list it on Boiko’s neat site with a running slide show. Nice exposure. Just no calls as yet.

I brought the car home four weeks ago from storage, got the thermostat squared away, and moved it onto the street for a day while jockeying some cars around. I came out to find a ticket for no current registration. Turns out I had the 08 tag in my wallet, and had not put it on the car since it had been in storage most of the year!! A nice waste of $25.
Jeff Price thought he had done me a favor my adjusting the Granatelli sensor about 6 turns clockwise, leaning out the idle and making it a little nicer. However, he KILLED the throttle response. It now falls FGLAT on its face unless it comes up on the turbo. I will adjust it in a moment to hopefully restore its drivability. Jeff claims GM is now making new units, and feels I should replace the Granatelli with a new GM unit. I’ll do it, notwithstanding this makes about the fifth sensor I will have had on this car.
The car ABSOLUTELY hauls ass at this setting.

Paid the ticket and got a refund! Nice change of pace.
Readjusted the MAS back to drivable settings. I think it knocks the performance slightly, but the thing still just rips.
I have entered it in the Kruse Del Mar Auction along with the HEMI.
Both are great cars, but they are also the most sellable, and I need the money to continue the KK and Condor.

3/6/08
After the McCormick auction, which did not bring enough money for the Dodge, I entered the Bick and Dodge in the Kruse auction in Del Mar for 3/8/08. TC noted the bumper filler panels appeared to have been stepped on. I frankly think someone did exactly that when it was parked under the rack, perhaps to look at something up top. Whatever, I got two panels at great expense and effort here yesterday, and Frankie is painting them tonight. We are taking the cars tomorrow to Del Mar, with Frankie driving the Regal. I’m towing the Hemi on Randy’s trailer.
I have gotten the Regal smogged, so I’m goof for another two years. It would be excellent to sell it right now with a fresh smog certificate, saving the hassle if it sells later than 90 days from now.
All cars are currently registered. Now to sell 6 or 7 of them.

4/3/08
I have entered the Regal and Hemi in the Indianapolis Mecum Auction. If someone steps up before they are loaded on the truck, so be it. But absent that, the Regal is bound for Indy for crossing the auction block at 7 PM Friday night May 16th. I have tickets, rental car, and hotel paid already. John Jarnagin is scheduled to come with me. I have NOT paid for the trucking or entry fees as yet.

4/28/08
John Jarnagin drive the Regal, I had the Hemi flatbedded, and I followed in the yellow Duramax (also already sold and paid for, just waiting for the buyer to pick it up tomorrow). John and I are flying to Indy to arrive in the early morning of May 14th, pick up the cars, drive them to the Mecum Auction site at the Fairgrounds. The Buick goes across the block at 7:05 EST on May 16th.
